TETRAODONTIFORMES - puffer fish

  • Family: Tetraodontidae
    These fish are able to inflate themselves for defence. They are a mainly marine group and are the only family of plectognath fish to have invaded freshwaters. Colomesus asellus is a common species in main river channels, it does not enter floodplain lakes.
